Bes Soc sponsors eight children from World Vision
By FRANCIA D.R. AFULUGENCIA
THE BEHAVIORAL Science Society (Bes Soc) reached out to development and relief organization World Vision Philippines by sponsoring the education and basic needs of eight children under its child sponsorship program.

This corresponds to the sponsorship of one child per class of the entire Bes community.

Each Bes student will contribute 15 pesos per month to comply with the 600 pesos monthly class contribution for their sponsored child. The society encouraged its members to sign the preliminary signature campaign to show their approval and support for the project.

“We [Bes Soc] thought this is a good opportunity to share and extend our helping hands outside the Arts and Letters community and we encourage every society to do the same by taking part in supporting relief organizations like World Vision,” Bes Soc President Patrick Remo said.

“We believe that it is worth our effort so we are prioritizing to help these children as part of our project,” he added.

According to Remo, the project will run for the entire academic year and he is hoping that the next society president will continue the program as he will be “glad to pass it along for them to continue.”

The sponsorship program is one of the primary thrusts of the society’s projects for the academic year. The idea originated from senior Bes major Ryxis Cuenco. The Bes Soc is the first in the Faculty to participate in a World Vision child sponsorship
program.
